English 8
Week of November 3- November 7
 Reading/Literature: This week we will be reading the short story, “The Monkey’s Paw,” and discussing the connotations and foreshadowing present in the story. While we read the short story, students will record connotative words and meanings and answer guided reading questions on a handout. Additional questions will be assigned on schoology after completing the story.

Novel Reading:  This week will be my “Science Fiction Novels Grand Premier!” I will be introducing many great science fiction titles to students! I can’t wait to share!!!! Students should be reading at least three times each week for 15-20 minutes outside of English class. Reading Logs will be collected each Friday. Students need to be working towards completing the reading of least 12 novels this year!
Writing: Students will complete a quick write on our block scheduled day.
“America and Me” essays need to be submitted by November 4 with the permission slip. (optional writing assignment)
Grammar: Students using everything we've learned so far this marking period on making observations on sentences.

Vocabulary: Students will continue taking notes and reviewing vocabulary from our literary unit on quizelet. Next week will be vocabulary quiz over the Literary Elements vocabulary words.
