Extra Information on Class:
Independent Book Reading & Project:
You are responsible to read a minimum of one book per marking period and complete a book project on the book that will be outlined in class at a later date- for each marking period. When you finish your book, you may start on your book project. When you’re finished with your book and book project, you will be required to find another book and will be required to read during the silent reading time in class. All books will stay in class in your reading folder. However, if you find you are falling behind with work, you may check out your folder and take the work home or to a study hall to work on.

Together Books: Touching Spirit Bear, Ghost of Spirit Bear, Rules
There will be weekly comprehension questions over these books. You may use the book to help you answer the questions. There will be unit study guides and test over each book. If you are absent, during silent reading time, it’s your responsibility to get a copy of the together book and get caught up with the reading. If you are really far behind with the reading, you may check out a book with me after class to read at home or in a study hall.

Reading Strategies:
Mini-lessons will be completed in class on the block-scheduled day. Work will follow on schoology that will reinforce the lesson. If you are absent on a block-scheduled day, during silent reading time I will give the mini lesson missed to students that were absent.

Informational Reading Handouts:
A packet will be given to students that will include informational reading and work. Periodically, this will be collected and a grade will be given for completion of this packet.

Schoology Work:
Questions on schoolgy will be given weekly on the block-scheduled day. Students will always have adequate time in class to compete the work. If a student is absent, he/she will need to find time to make-up and complete the work missed.
