English 8

Everyday Editing- I put an Explore Test type question under the document camera, and students read the question and wrote an answer in their writer's notebook. Students needed to use their knowledge from the serial comma rule and the definition of a compound sentence in order to answer the question correctly.

Lesson: We finished reading the short story, "The Monkey's Paw," and students worked with a partner to answer questions about connotation, mood, setting, foreshadowing, and other story elements together.

Remember that Monday is late start!!!

Thoughts on Reading...

“I try to teach my students that books are a mirror, reflecting their own lives, and a window, giving them a peek into someone else's.” ― Donalyn Miller

“Deeper comprehension is more likely to occur when we
discuss our reading with others.” Kelly Gallagher

“A critical reader in the classroom makes for a discerning
reader outside of the classroom.” Kelly Gallagher
