     Denotation: the strict, "dictionary" definition of a word.
     -Connotation: the emotions attached to a  word. The emotion can be either positive or negative.
Denotative VS. Connotative (Please record on page 17 in your Reader’s Notebook.)

Lesson: We started reading the short story, "The Monkey's Paw." Students were given a guided reading paper to answer questions about the short story while reading. Also, students are to write down when they see connotation used in the story.
