English 8

We made it through another very warm day in the classroom! Thank you students for your hard work today in putting together our writer's and reader's notebooks. Remember they are like a text book; take good care of them and bring them to class each day.

Homework For This Week: Turn in syllabus signed; Letter of Introduction and Classroom Promise
                                               is due on Friday!

Next Week Homework: Decorate the the cover, inside cover, and first page of your writer's notebook. Make it represent you with pictures, designs, collages of magazine cut-outs, or quotes. I'd like students to have this done for next Tuesday! We will share in class! Let's see your creativity!

Thoughts on Reading...

“Reading changes your life. Reading unlocks worlds unknown or forgotten, taking travelers around the world and through time. “I try to teach my students that books are a mirror, reflecting their own lives, and a window, giving them a peek into someone else's.” ― Donalyn Miller

“Deeper comprehension is more likely to occur when we
discuss our reading with others.” Kelly Gallagher

reader outside of the classroom.” Kelly Gallagher
