Reading: Next week I will be checking in with students to see if they met their 12 book reading goal and conferencing with students on this goal.

Writing:  Next week we will start writing an argumentative essay. This week we will be gathering ideas and information to help support the essay.

Literature Studies: This week we will finish reading,  Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
Questions will be handed out this week over the reading and will need to
                                   be completed by Friday.

8th Grade Memory Video: I am continuing to work on video this week.

Thoughts on Writing...

watching the pros, don't we?" ~John R. Trimble

write like readers.” Kelly Gallagher

Thoughts on Reading...

“Reading changes your life. Reading unlocks worlds unknown or forgotten, taking travelers around the world and through time. Reading helps you escape the confines of school and pursue your own education. Through characters – the saints and the sinners, real or imagined – reading shows you how to be a better human being.” ― Donalyn Miller, The Book Whisperer: Awakening the Inner Reader in Every Child

“I try to teach my students that books are a mirror, reflecting their own lives, and a window, giving them a peek into someone else's.” ― Donalyn Miller

“Deeper comprehension is more likely to occur when we
discuss our reading with others.” Kelly Gallagher

“A critical reader in the classroom makes for a discerning
reader outside of the classroom.” Kelly Gallagher
