English 8

Today I handed out novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, to each student. We read to page 12.

Next, we went to the computer lab and worked on our final drafts to our choice writing pieces. Most students were able to turn in their final drafts today. However, students that couldn't finish the writing in class will need to work on the writing over the weekend, and then turn in their work on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Thoughts on Reading...

“Reading changes your life. Reading unlocks worlds unknown or forgotten, taking travelers around the world and through time. “I try to teach my students that books are a mirror, reflecting their own lives, and a window, giving them a peek into someone else's.” ― Donalyn Miller

“Deeper comprehension is more likely to occur when we
discuss our reading with others.” Kelly Gallagher

“A critical reader in the classroom makes for a discerning
reader outside of the classroom.” Kelly Gallagher
